Before enjoying the beaches and swimming, don’t miss the Puits d’Enfer, a geological curiosity to be discovered in Les Sables d’Olonne (2 km from the zoo or 7 km from the Automobile museum). You’ll feel very small at the top of this impressive crack in the rock. This superb location invites you to take a stroll on the rocks by the sea, but beware, they can be slippery.

It’s quick and easy to get to Les Sables d’Olonne zoo from the Bois Soleil campsite.
- By car, allow around 16 minutes for 10.6 km. Take the D80, D122 and D949 to reach your destination.
- The trip can also be made by bike, for a more environmentally-friendly mode of transport. The distance will be the same, 10 km, but of course you’ll need to allow more time, 30 to 45 minutes on average. And don’t forget that 600 meters of this route are on cycle lanes.
